Music Performance

Today a few of the Room 3 students performed their music for us. They were fantastic. We have some very talented musicians in Room 3!

Digital Storytelling

Today some of our students were given the opportunity to learn about digital storytelling. 

We used LEGO to carry out our animations.

Term 4 - here we are!!

Term 4 is well underway and we are busy working on a number of things, including dance practice and looking at New Zealand's identity.

Athletics

Room 3 did really well in Athletics - well done to you all :)

Classroom Layout

This term the students in Room 3 have been given the opportunity to design the physical learning environment in room 3 themselves. We have done this to help them learn the best way they can.
This is what they have come up with: A mixture of desks, floor area, couches and cushions.

Rm 3's Calendar Art for the PTA

This term Room 3 completed some art for the PTA. Our theme was Our Utopia. The medium we used: coloured pencils and crayons.

Senior Kapa Haka Group

Yesterday our senior Kapa Haka group performed to the school - it was an amazing performance! Well done to all involved :) 

Our Science Experiments

The students have been conducting their own experiments in science this term. Here are a few of them:

Which play dough recipe makes the softest play dough and lasts the longest?

What happens to different substances when we freeze them? 

Which chocolate melts the quickest? dark, milk or white?

Are yawns contagious?

Donation to Westpac Helicopter Rescue

Last Friday our head students: Gemma, Luke, Sydney and Blake held a mufti day to raise money for the Westpac Helicopter Rescue. They did this because they wanted to help people in need. Today they took the money into the Westpac Helicopter trust where it was greatly received. Here is a photo of the 4 students presenting the money ($657.50) - we are very proud of them all :) Thanks all of the Oakland's students who donated money at the mufti day too.

Our own science experiments

We are currently working on our own scientific investigations. We are following the scientific process and writing up our experiments using the scientific method - the following photos show us completing the research part of our investigations.

Science Experiments

Over the past few weeks we have been conducting some science experiments and learning about the scientific process.

Here is one of our experiments: We made some popcorn on the stove and estimated how long it would take to pop.

Homework Challenges

Well done to those students who are well underway with their homework challenges. 

We are well into term 2 now and students who are working on the homework challenges should be hoping to have done 5 or 6 challenges by the end of the term. Remember to fill in a challenge reflection sheet (found on the wall by Miss O's desk) and hand to Miss O.

Inventors and Inventions!

This term our integrated learning is based around inventions. The students will be designing some inventions of their own. If anyone is involved in work/areas that have a component around design or creativity then I would love to hear from you.
